Robert - it's actually not win-win. The only winners here are the corporations who receive good P.R. because people don't know enough about AIDS relief and assume, like you did, that this is a good, worthwhile thing. Sure, it's a nice thought, that in buying your PC under this Dell/Microsoft/Red arrangement, you would actually be helping someone in need. That thought does not mesh with reality though. Even AIDS experts now agree that donor money is better spent on basic health needs and clean water than on AIDS relief to help people in Africa (see the Associated Press 1/18/08 article entitled "Experts Call for Rethinking AIDS Money" at http://tinyurl.com/37zj3y ). 'Giving a patient medicine without food is like washing your hands and drying them in the dirt'. But worse yet, sometimes AIDS relief can actually DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD in Africa.
