Welcome to the Tuesday night "Sanjaya needs to go home" edition of The Vista Daily. Here's what's been going on since Sunday:

Xbox:

• Xbox 360: Back in Black. An HDMI-enabled black Xbox 360 "Elite" is coming, and it will be $479 $20 cheaper that the Premium one. Does that mean a price cut is in the 360's future? [via Engadget]
• Microsoft is investigating cases of Xbox Live Fraud. I wonder how those accounts were hacked. Apparently this has been going on for a while... boo to Microsoft for not responding sooner.

Everything Else:

• Windows Live gained 0.7% marketshare. Hey, a gain is a gain, right?
• Long Zheng nabs a video of one of the DreamScene video backgrounds you can expect when it (finally) launches in a few weeks.
• Microsoft joins the OpenAJAX Alliance. Building 42 at Microsoft wants to make sure everything they do in the Ajax space is interoperable. [via Scott Guthrie] 
• Mary Jo thinks that "Fiji" is actually the next release of Windows Media Center, and it will be released between SP1 and "Windows Seven". The only reason I might disagree is because it doesn't fit in with the old codenames... but at the same time it makes sense.
• And the promised Zune update is nowhere to be seen. Come on Microsoft, you guys need to be more open than that. This is not a game you can afford to screw up. [via Bink]
• Peter Blight of ArsTechnica is doing a three-part review of Vista. It's a good read.
• Jason Burns is surprised that 40% of his readers are using Vista. The numbers here are very similar.
• Corey Gouker discovers that the LifeChat ZX-6000 base station shows up in Windows as the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver. That's because that model is just a rebranded version of the Xbox 360 Wireless Headset (at least it appears to be).
