So many times have I told myself "and they expect me to pay for this?". I live in a country where you can get an illegal copy of any software for 2$. And that's exactly what I do.

Want to improve windows? Work on the explorer and the internet explorer. It's a real mess and that's where most of the crashes come from. Also create a single system (and not 10 different systems) that would manage executables and keep them from doing whatever they want to the PC. Maybe for example rely on the system to install and uninstall software, this way the software cannot anymore leave spyware behind it after the uninstall.

Heck there's a lot of things you can do.

Microsoft is becoming irrelevant

With the phenomenal success of OSS and its poster child Linux during the last 3-4 years, Microsoft is slowly and surely entering a downward spiral of their business.

I confess to being an avid Microsoft hater and an OSS fan (hey check the title of my blog!) and would love to see the company go down the drains. Sorry to sound so acerbic, but Microsoft is a company that has a history of making money from unethical business practices.

It is impractical to think that the folks in Redmond have suddenly realized that they are bad (horrible is more correct) and decided to become good guys overnight. I don't think so. This whole blog marketing is a ploy devised by the marketing squad at Redmond, in order to save their Windoze and Office code base till the time Longhorn comes out sometime in 2006-07. It is a ploy to occupy the mental space of developers, bloggers and users with tidbits of Longhorn just to keep it floating there. I don't believe you are serious in this, Robert. May be you are nice guy, but surely I don't trust your bosses and the top monkeys at Redmond.

You initially pretended OSS did not exist, then you tried FUD, then you tried embrace and extend, recently you tried 'Get the facts', you tried every trick in the book and outside it to kill FLOSS. Now you realize that you still cannot beat it with all the dirty tricks so you have opened these dialogs( and 'hey, we are chums' line. But hey I am not going to fall for it, cuz for me Microsoft is the worst enemy.

I use Python at work exclusively and have three Linux systems at home running on my Pentium IV PC - Fedora 3, Mandrake 10.1 and Ubuntu Hoary. I keep a Windoze 2000 partition to play those odd games (when I am tired of playing games in Linux). I have to use a Windoze 2K system at work since that is what the company prescribes, and I have learnt to swallow that bitter pill every day.

I am looking forward to a day when my PC will run Ubuntu or MEPIS Linux at work and I believe that it is not far away.

Death to you Microsoft.
